Should answers on Yahoo really be hidden due to low rating?

I often thumb-down answers, but when it comes to the answers at the bottom "hidden due to low rating," I almost always click "show" anyway just to read what it said. I don't believe in censorship just because something is unpopular. So why is Yahoo semi-doing that?
