Help! please help me brainstorm on this project.?

This is a question that is mainly for people that have read this book called the Giver by Lois Lowry. i am doing this project on it relating to our society. and how sometimes we mindlessly accept things, or things that are overlooked, or things that make us human in our society. because in the Giver there is this thing called "Sameness." and the question is that i need some help brainstorming on art in our society. i already have half of what i need. i basically wrote why art is important in our lives, but i need to think about something to write on about how it is thought as an extra curricular in schools. how can i explain or write how some schools think that art is not important or how it is overlooked in schools and how that has affected us or something. thanks alot! i need an answer before monday, well sunday. asap!
